Indonesia often grants free visas or Visa on Arrival (VoA) for many nationalities, but it’s wise to check updated regulations. If you plan an extended stay or come from a country with different visa rules, confirm details via the Indonesian embassy or official government portal. Currency

The local currency is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). You’ll need cash for ferries, smaller shops, and local transportation. Although larger towns on bigger islands may accept cards, many rural areas remain cash-based. Best Travel Seasons

Most visitors arrive during the dry season, from April to October. Calm waters and sunny weather make journeys more predictable. On the other hand, the wet season (November–March) can bring heavier rainfall and choppier seas. Batam as a Launch Pad

Batam lies close to Singapore and is a common jumping-off point to the Anambas. Tourists and business travelers frequent Batam for its malls, golf courses, and ferry connections. Whether you are coming in from Singapore to Anambas, Jakarta to Anambas or Tanjung to Anambas, you will end up at Hang Nadim airport in Batam for your flight to Anambas (we have assumed here that you don’t want to take the 7-9 hour ferry ride, but we will do an article on that later for the more intrepid travellers).

• Insect Repellent: Helps ward off mosquitoes and other biting insects prevalent in humid climates.
• Light Rain Jacket: Offers protection from sudden tropical downpours and monsoon showers.
• Small First Aid Kit: Provides essential treatments (e.g., bandages, antiseptic, pain relief) when medical facilities are limited.
