Jemaja Island Northern District
Letung stands at the heart of Jemaja’s entry corridors. Many goods destined for Jemaja arrive here from Batam, Bintan, and farther locales, sustaining the island’s lifeblood of trade. Plans are in place to extend the port’s docks, enabling accommodation of smaller cruise ships sailing between Hong Kong and Singapore. This evolution promises a fresh chapter in regional tourism.
Letung Airport is the modern provincial airport of the Anambas. The replaced terminal now welcomes ATR72 regional turboprops, ensuring more frequent connections. Future upgrades aim to support international regional jet services, setting the stage for expanded access to the archipelago. Across Jemaja, the main town of Letung stands out as an eastern focal point and population center.
Letung Area
Letung is the primary hub on Jemaja’s eastern flank, boasting the largest resident community in that region. Comfortable lodging can be found at Miranti Indah Hotel, Jemaja Island Natural Sea Resort, Wisma Pesona Jemaja, Penginapan Harapan Indah, and Wisma Putra. For banking needs, three institutions maintain ATMs: Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), and Bank Mandiri. The town itself lies about 15 minutes from Letung Airport and requires a similar journey to reach Padang Malam beach jetty. From that jetty, ferries regularly depart for Terempa, the main town on the eastern side of the Anambas.
Letung Main Town
Is the main population centre in the Eastern side of the Anambas islands. Main accommodation options are Miranti Indah Hotel, Jemaja island natural sea resort, Wisma Pesona Jemaja, Penginapan Harapan Indah and Wisma Putra.
Some shopping and market options in Letung main town are Toko Sinar Letung, Toko Harapan Jaya, Toko Maju Bersama, Pasar (Market) Letung and Toko Sabar Subur. The town is approximately 15 minutes from Letung airport and 15 minutes to Padang Malam beach jetty (from which you can take the ferry to the main town of Terempa on the Eastern side of the Anambas islands.
Siantan Island
Siantan Island serves as the primary population hub of the Anambas archipelago and the seat of its government. Most travellers to the region either base themselves in Terempa or the outer islands. Tourists and investors alike recognize the town’s strategic location for accessing the diverse sights and potential properties within the Anambas.
Infrastructure development on Siantan continues apace, thanks to investments by both provincial and regional authorities. A newly completed causeway graces the eastern shoreline of Terempa Bay. While modern bridges are planned to connect Bajau Island and Matak Island. Also, construction is planned on a marina and float plane dock on the South East. North Siantan District
North Siantan District encompasses Terempa, the archipelago’s most populous settlement, along with Tanjung Tebu to the east. Three kilometers from Terempa, the provincial government offices overlook future plans for a road that will link Siantan to Matak. From this vantage point, sweeping views extend northward toward Temawan and Mandriau, and southward toward Pejaul.
Most trade routes and primary access points, whether from Natuna Islands, Surabaya, or Tanjung Priok, converge here. The cruise ship Bukit Raya also makes its dock in this area, adding an air of bustle to local waters. For islands scattered across the Anambas’ eastern sector, water taxis deliver direct connections to Terempa’s central harbor.
Terempa Main Town
erempa is the beating heart of eastern Anambas, distinguished by its concentrated population and bustling atmosphere. On the same thoroughfare, you will find ATMs for Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), and Bank Mandiri. Just past these financial services, immigration facilities, a police station, and a local hospital cluster together near the main jetty. Take a brief walk from the ferry’s landing, turn left, and you will see them all within a convenient 500-meter stretch.
